north buffalo
North Buffalo is a beautiful and vibrant neighborhood north of Delaware Park, south of Kenmore and between Main St. and Elmwood Ave. Centered around Hertel Ave, North Buffalo is renown for its Italian cuisine, locally owned stores, and antique shops. No trip to North Buffalo would be complete without a stop to the Italian Heritage and food festival, a game of baseball or softball at Shoshone park, and a night at the Colonie Lounge gentlemen's club and cigar bar.
This group was created to celebrate an often overlooked neighborhood, and the people who grew up there. When we're asked where we are from in Buffalo, and we say "North Buffalo", people tend to think we live in the suburbs, but it's our responsibility to explain that North Buffalo is NOT a suburb of Buffalo, but really the best part about the city of Buffalo.
So this group is for anyone that ever spent way too much time walking around Hertel, watched or participated in the Shoshone Park Baseball league parade, had a freezy-pop after every baseball/softball game at Shoshone, walked to the Italian festival every year as a kid, went to the Fairfield or North Park library, hung out at Burke's Green, or had a friend who worked at B-Kwik.
